1. Agreement
These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Caddy Cred ("we", "us") covering the Caddy Cred iOS app and website (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you accept these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old. You're responsible for your account, for keeping your sign-in method secure, and for everything posted from your account. Use your real identity — the entire point of Caddy Cred is that scores and reputations belong to real players; impersonating someone else or running multiple accounts to manipulate ratings is prohibited.
3. The honor system, enforced
Caddy Cred is a reputation system for golf. Using it honestly means:
- Post real scores. Record what you actually shot. Deliberately posting false scores — yours or a partner's — is a violation of these terms.
- Verify in good faith. Confirm cards you saw played; dispute cards you believe are wrong. Retaliatory disputes and quid-pro-quo confirmations undermine everyone's Cred.
- Rate honestly. Peer ratings are anonymous so they can be honest. Coordinated rating attacks, rating trades, and harassment through ratings are prohibited.
We may recompute, flag, or remove scores, ratings, and Cred values that we reasonably believe are fraudulent or manipulated.
4. Conduct
Don't use the Service to harass, threaten, or defame anyone; don't post content that's unlawful, hateful, or obscene; don't attempt to access other players' private data or interfere with the Service's operation. You can report a player from their profile, and block them so their posts are hidden from you. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
5. Open spots, green fees, and money games
Open spots connect players who want to fill a group. Caddy Cred does not process payments: any green fee or maximum per-hole wager shown on a spot is information posted by the host so players know the arrangement before joining. Any money that changes hands is strictly between players and the course — we hold no funds, take no cut, and do not enforce, collect, or settle wagers. Friendly money games are a tradition of the sport; whether and how you take part is your decision and your responsibility, including compliance with the laws that apply where you play. We are not a party to tee-time arrangements and don't guarantee anyone shows up.
6. Your content
You own what you post — scores, ratings, spots, and profile information. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and process that content to operate the Service, including showing your name and aggregate reputation to other players and keeping shared scorecards on your partners' ledgers after you delete your account. Community-contributed course data (par cards, course ratings) becomes part of the shared course catalog.
7. Our content
The Service, its design, and its software are ours and are protected by law. Course catalog data includes material from OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, used under the Open Database License. Handicap calculations are approximations for recreation — Caddy Cred is not affiliated with the USGA and does not issue official handicap indexes.
8. Termination
You can stop using the Service or delete your account at any time in the app. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or harm the Service or its players. Sections 6–10 survive termination.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't warrant that scores, ratings, handicaps, course data, or availability information are accurate or error-free, or that the Service will be uninterrupted. Golf is played outdoors with other people — arrangements you make through the Service, and anything that happens at the course, are your responsibility.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the past twelve months (currently: nothing — the Service is free).
11. Changes
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. If a change is material we'll update the date above and note it in the app; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Questions: bradwlees@gmail.com.
