The short version
Caddy Cred exists to keep golf scores honest, not to harvest data. We collect what the app needs to work — your account details, your rounds, and the ratings you exchange with playing partners — and nothing more. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
What we collect
- Account information. Your display name and, depending on how you sign in, your email address or phone number. Sign-in is handled by Apple, Google, or email/password through Firebase Authentication.
- Profile photo. Optional. If you add one, it's visible to other signed-in players alongside your name; you can remove it any time from your profile, and it's deleted with your account. Photos other players find inappropriate can be reported in the app and are removed on review.
- Golf activity. Rounds you record — courses, dates, hole-by-hole scores and putts — plus score confirmations, disputes, and your computed handicap index.
- Peer and course ratings. Ratings you give playing partners are stored anonymously: other players only ever see aggregate averages, never who rated them or what a single rating said. Course ratings are aggregated the same way.
- Open spots. Tee times you post or request, including course, date, format, and the green fee you enter.
- Location. With your permission, your device location is used to show golf courses near you. It powers that lookup and is not stored as a location history.
- Push tokens. A device token so we can notify you when you're added to a scorecard, a round needs verification, or someone requests your open spot.
What we don't do
- No selling or renting your personal information.
- No advertising and no ad networks.
- No tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
Where your data lives
Caddy Cred runs on Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Messaging). Your data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure in the United States and is covered by Google's Firebase privacy documentation. Access is controlled by security rules: your profile is only writable by you, rounds are only visible to the players in them, and individual ratings are never readable by anyone — including the person rated.
What other players see
Your display name, member-since date, tier, aggregate Cred score, rating count, verified round count, handicap, and any disputed-score flags are visible to other signed-in players — that's the point of the app. Your email, phone number, exact rounds, and the individual ratings you give or receive are not.
Retention and deletion
Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account any time in the app (Profile → Delete account). That permanently removes your profile, your ratings record, and your solo rounds. Rounds played with partners remain on their verified ledgers — your name appears as a snapshot on that shared scorecard, the way a name stays on a paper card. Abuse reports are retained as long as needed for review.
Children
Caddy Cred is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Course data
The course catalog is built from OpenStreetMap data (© OpenStreetMap contributors) and community contributions from players. Course data is about golf courses, not about you.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and note the change in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
